'90s Throwback: Modern SaaS Sites Get a Retro Makeover

Remember the '90s? The Macarena was on repeat, Y2K had everyone on edge, and the internet was a whole new frontier. Today, we're taking a trip down memory lane and revisiting the charm of '90s web design, thanks to web98 by Nate Parrott.

No time machine required

Ever wondered what today's websites would look like if we were still living in the '90s? With web98, you can now experience the World Wide Web with a nostalgic twist. From pixelated graphics to nostalgic fonts, web98 flawlessly transforms your favorite sites into a retro internet experience you'll love.

Putting web98 to the Test

We couldn't resist trying web98 on some popular websites to see how they'd fare with a '90s makeover. The outcome was pure nostalgic gold! Dive in and explore the retro versions of these beloved sites.

1. Loom

Loom's '90s makeover features a vibrant yellow backdrop, bold 3D retro gifs like the classic "under construction" sign, and a spinning red heart. There's even a clunky "Microsoft Internet Explorer" badge to round it all off.

2. HubSpot

HubSpot keeps its signature bright orange color, but with a twist: a retro gif of a flying dove (?) and vintage clipart of a coffee cup under the "featured services" section.

3. Ahrefs

Ahrefs sports a prominent "Microsoft Internet Explorer" badge and retro marker-style font in its '90s redesign. The phrase "unlock the secrets of the web" is a surprisingly accurate description for the tool.

4. Asana

Asana's '90s version has a quirky gif of a fictional planet orbited by numerous moons, symbolizing how Asana can help you manage multiple projects and keep them all "in orbit." (Or maybe we're reaching with that one?)

5. Mixpanel

Mixpanel's retro design is simple, featuring scrolling text at the bottom with two giant 3D rotating red hearts. That bright yellow text on light blue background was a choice (looking at you, ChatGPT!)

6. Linear

Linear's '90s look has a prominent 3D retro gif of a flying dove. The copy accurately describes Linear as a project management tool, though the 1990s might not have been ready for such agile management.

7. Typeform

Typeform's '90s throwback includes the infamous Comic Sans in the headline and a retro gif of a fictional planet orbited by multiple moons.

8. Slack

Slack's '90s version has a bright yellow background and vivid blue buttons. The subheading, "where work happens," still rings true, and the enticing CTA reads, "Join the fun!"
