How to get more paid subscribers for your SaaS business

Every SaaS business wants—and desperately needs—to grow their customer base. It’s the lifeblood of any SaaS business. But it’s not easy to get more customers to subscribe. In fact, most companies struggle with getting paid subscribers. Luckily, there are a few tricks you can use on your pricing page that have been proven to help you get more paid subscribers. Here are the best tricks to get more paid subscribers for your SaaS business.

Getting the pricing page right

Designing pricing pages is a tough thing to get right, and there are so many different elements that could be on them. But at the core of it, you want to drive people away from the free plan and toward the paid plan that you actually want them to select. There are several tactics you can use to highlight paid plans on your pricing page and get more paid customers. While there are only so many colors we can use, by strategically choosing the ones we do choose we can direct our visitors’s attention as needed. In this article, I'll talk about some of the best strategies for using color in pricing pages and help you get more paid subscribers.

1. Make the paid plan's background color darker compared to the free plan

You can use the color contrast of the plan cards to draw the visitor's eye to a premium plan. Here are two examples of this in action, from Gatheround and Disco:

2. Outline the paid plan and label it with "Most popular" or "Recommended"

Adding an outline and a label to the paid plan is another effective way to draw your visitor's eye to it. Here's how Descript and Github do it:

3. Use a bold color for the paid plan's call-to-action button

The call-to-action button is another opportunity to emphasize your paid plan. Use your website's primary color for your paid plan's button, like Help Scout or Asana:
